Early Years   1983 - 1992   1993 - 2003

2004 - present

In September of 2004, I began my PhD at McGill University in the Intergenerational Education area of research. In December of 2008 I successfully defended my thesis and, in the spring of 2009 graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy. I have presented research at the Music and Lifelong Learning Symposium at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas.

I am an active musician in the Eastern Ontario area playing in a variety of genres. I have performed classical music and jazz/pop music on clarinet and saxophones as part of the Kingston Symphony and National Arts Centre Orchestra as well as with the Kingston Classics Trio. My seven piece dance band, the Swingmasters are a feature every summer on the Island Star dinner boat cruising through the Thousand Islands. Also on the Island Star I did two cruises with a Benny Goodman Tribute Quartet I formed to mark the 75th Anniversary of the legendary Goodman Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert of 1938. Additionally, I have performed for many private functions as part of a jazz combo.

In Feb 2012, I performed original music written for clarinet, piano, violin and cello by pianist/composer David Braid and the Land's End Ensemble in Calgary for two concerts and a recording session in that city . In 2013, I initiated the Swingmasters Ballroom Orchestra for a fundraiser for the Kingston Symphony and at the Kingston Garrison Ball. This 22 piece dance orchestra includes a big band with strings and models the style of Ballroom Orchestras of the 1930's.

This summer I am performing in the pit for Thousand Islands Playhouse production of the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I am performing on Alto Sax, Clarinet, Flute and Oboe for this show. Lots of fun!
